We are going to be starting a new series as a church this coming Sunday morning looking at what is the church. Covid-19 has perhaps challenged a number of our ideas or assumptions about the church – which is why it is so important that we return to the Bible, God’s word, and spend some time reflecting on what the church is and how we can be faithful to what God is asking us to do through his church.
In the book of Acts, time and again we see phrases like Acts 16:5 – “So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and they increased in numbers daily.” The connection seems clear – because the church was being strengthened in the faith they grew! Reflecting on these verses I think it becomes clear that churches that are following God’s design for the church multiple – they are attractive – a compelling community. If we want to make an impact in our community we need to begin by examining if we are being faithful to God’s design for his church.
In our morning services (11am), we will look at a different aspect of the church each week – the topics we are going to cover are in the image below. In our evening meetings (7pm) we will dip deeper into what the same aspect looks like through Bible study and discussion.
I would encourage you to make it a priority to attend these services – if we are going to move forward as a church we need to be united around a vision for what the church should be like and how everyone can be involved. Even if you don’t normally come to the evening meetings it would be great if you could join us as we would love to hear from you what you think about the topics – I know this is challenging for those with children or other commitments but perhaps at least one parent can make it along each week.
If you have any questions please get in touch.
